Dr. Percy Ricketts, LMHC, NCC.

“I am here to help.”

I am a Licensed Psychotherapist, Nationally Certified Counselor, Parenting and Divorce Consultant. I am a graduate of Virginia Tech, Nova Southeastern University and Argosy University. I have a Master of Science Degree in Mental Health Counseling and a Doctorate in Counseling Psychology, and I have been a mental health clinician in Florida since April, 1997.  I am the author of  several books including Parenting in the twenty-first century, Before You Get Married: 110 Things You Should Know, Before You Divorce: 101 Things You Should Know, How George Survived His Parents Divorce, Fathers of African Descent and Adjusting to Divorce: Simple Steps Parents Can Take To Help Themselves & Their Children.  Adjusting to Divorce is also available in a DVD format. All my books are availabe at my website: www.divorceclass.info. Just click on the  button marked “Purchase Products,” in the top, left hand corner of the “Home“ page.

In addition to my counseling practice, I teach a 4-hour parenting course, which is geared towards assisting separated, divorcing and divorced families and which is mandatory for divorcing parents in the state of Florida. I am also a trained Sandcastles educator. Sandcastles is an educational program and support group that is designed specifically for children of divorce ages 6-17 Years. This program currently operates as a mandatory program in over a dozen cities in the United States including Miami-Dade County, Florida, and as a voluntary program in numerous other areas of the United States and around the world. For further information on these two programs, please click on the respective buttons at the top left of this page.

I speak Spanish fluently and I enjoy working with individuals, couples and families of various backgrounds, who might require assistance with mental health or personal concerns. I offer brief, solution-focused sessions, in a quiet, strategically-located, confidential environment. I have convenient hours to accommodate clients, who have a tight schedule, and I accept most Employee Assistance and health insurance plans. I have a sliding fee arrangement that is specifically designed to assist  clients, who might be experiencing financial challenges.

Please call me for a brief, free consultation, so that you and I can determine together, whether I am able to meet your particular need. I return telephone calls, usually within 24 hours. However, due to confidentiality and other concerns, I do not respond to electronic mails. If you contact me via this medium and you need a reply, please leave your telephone number.  If, for some reason, I am unable to meet your specific need, I will point you in the right direction. It takes courage to admit that you need help.
